Why Network Security?
Do you want to be the one who ensures the safety of information on a network, or does the installation of networks? Then the AAS in Network Security program might be the job for you. In roles such as network administrator and network specialist, graduates maintain network hardware and software. Network specialists analyze, design, install, test, and support systems such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), Internet, intranet, wireless and other data communications systems. They provide day-to-day on-site administrative support for network users in a variety of work environments. Network administrators also may plan, coordinate and implement network security measures. Come explore what we offer. Our degree also includes preparation for the Cisco certification exams.

By now I am nearing my 2-Year mark with Amazon as a member of Network Scaling and Integration working in Amazon Data Centers and my current position has been beyond fulfilling. Not only do I have the opportunity to deploy, test, and troubleshoot brand new technologies but I am exposed to new networking hardware beyond the LAN environment and building my skill sets and value along the way. Most notably I have developed a strong interest in Optical Networks (DWDM) and have begun working to develop my talents to promote up and become an Optical Engineer to design and deploy new DWDM systems in a large scale Enterprise environment.
For your current students who are aiming high to join a large company, Amazon offers a wide range of network oriented positions from LAN support in corporate networks to globally connected network build outs in our data centers with cutting edge hardware and we are always looking for top talent to help us grow. In fact, we are scaling so rapidly I have had the opportunity to travel to other regions around the world in order to scale our network and do brand new build outs. Among the coolest places Amazon has sent me include Dublin, Ireland and most recently Milan, Italy! Not only was it very exciting to travel to new regions (and on the company dollar no less) but I happen to be in Ireland last year for St. Patrick’s day and last month I was in Italy for Carnival (Mardi Gras)!
I sure seem to have great timing for international travel it appears J
Cisco Net Acad gave me the foundation needed to hire into a top tier employer and land a fulfilling position with great compensation and plenty of room for career growth, which has also allowed for personal milestones to be achieved as well. There is strong value in the Cisco Net Acad program at Highline and I will forever view it as the catalyst that propelled me in my career. As an instructor you have been instrumental in my success and forever grateful that I had the privilege to learn from you. And it goes without saying, but without having gone through Cisco Net Acad I wouldn’t have ever had the opportunity to visit the Lamborghini Museum while in Italy!
